Valdez Qaniq Challenge: Jan. 17-18, 2015. This 2-day/35km cross country ski race combines both classic and freestyle skiing on two separate courses, with a combined purse of $10,000 divided among the top 3 men & women finishers. Visit for more information.

St. Baldricks Day: March 17, 2015, this is a local benefit & St. Patrick’s Day celebration for Children’s Cancer research.

Wounded Warrior Poker Run: March 28th, 2015, the groomed snowmachine course is 13 miles long and open to everyone including families, kids and beginners.


Tailgate Alaska-Snowboard World Freeride Championships: April 3-12,2015-the foremost backcountry freeride event which hosts the World Freeriding

Snowkite Festival at Thompson Pass: April 3-12, 2015.Speed-riding and paragliding athletes from around the world demonstrate acrobatic skills and compete for prizes. Snowkite instructional training available and demos for spectators.For more information go to .

PWSCC Fundraiser: April 11th, 7 – 10 p.m. Dueling Pianos with Jeff and Rhiannon from Noteworthy Productions in Seattle, Washington, will be performing live at the Civic Center. The comical duo will be performing an interactive dueling piano show, where the audience is encouraged to request the songs, clap, sing, and dance to the tunes! You name it – they’ll play it, from Billy Joel, Bon Jovi, to the Black Eyed Peas! This couple has played all over the world! Check out their website at to learn more about them.
Metales 5, a Mexican Brass Band, performs on Tuesday, April 14, 7 p.m. at the Valdez Civic Center. 

Mountain Man Snowmachine Hill Climb: April 17-19, 2015, this is the 25th anniversary Valdez Mountain Man Hillclimb. This event takes place in Thompson Pass, just north of Valdez on the Richardson Highway, where snowmachiners attempt to cruise their machines up a 1,700-foot slope to successfully reach the top and claim a winning time. This is a spectator-oriented event with high-stakes action.

Valdez Arts Council Annual Picnic: VAC Annual Picnic will take place on Tuesday, May 26, 6 PM at Dock Point. Everyone is welcome.
