Snowkiting

Valdez's iconic Thompson Pass is a world class destination for snowkiting, a winter sport in which people on skis or snowboards harness the power of winter winds to pull them across snow and ice. Instructional camps for beginner and veteran snowkiters are held each year in Thompson Pass, as is the annual Alaska Snowkite Festival.
